I went for a nice walk to my own cache St. Nicholas, on a sunny autumn morning with my friend. The Ampelmannchen was still waiting in the cache since spring, so I decided to pick it again and take it someplace else.
Attending an event at the Slovenian-Austrian border: Pozdravimo 2020! / Willkommen 2020!
It was nice and too short. We climbed up the historic bordercrossing of Stari Ljubelj (Loibl) marked with two obelisks, chatted in the cozy mountain hut and remembered the famous oldtimer races (Hrast Memorial).
(Funny, the coordinates entered into geokrety add the Austrian flag to the log, while the original cache link is located in Slovenia. So it is truly international, as were the fellow cachers. :) )
There we go, 2020! The virtual cache at Višarje: Monte Santo di Lussari 1.788 m. It is a truly beautiful winter fairy-tale scenery with stunning views of the surroundings.
On the last day of 2019 we stopped at Lago di Cornino. There we learnt of the griffon protection project. A very nice visitor centre, you can observe some griffons that cannot live out of captivity as well as several flying freely high above the cliff area. The cache was an easy find just before dusk. The Lake of Cornino is a nice little gem, it also has a specific water regime, it must be absolutely stunning in perfect light. On the lake, there was a floating nativity at the time of our visit. :)
On the road again! Nova Gorica, Slovenia, cache: Skrivnostni napis / Secret inscription. Very close to the Slo-Ita border, the coordinates entered into geokrety have added the Ita flag to the log.
On the 1st of November we went to Venice all of a sudden (deciding the previous afternoon). :) Our approach was from Punta Sabbioni, very practical for campers & low season. There we took a vaporetto and approached Venice from the lagoon. We spent a fantastic day there in perfect sunny weather and moderate temperatures. We picked two virtual caches, I am logging one: Virtual Reward 2.0 Il salotto di Venezia. Easy to solve. :)
Soca Highlights No.6 - Trnovo Bridge
The beautiful emerald Soča river is simply amazing.
