Geocache Description:

Challenges!!! Whether you see a challenge as a problem or an opportunity, we all face them from time to time. This is a challenge cache (as opposed to a geocaching challenge). Although the cache is located at the published coordinates please read on to discover the logging requirements and the nature of this challenge.

According to Groundspeak, a challenge cache is a variation of a puzzle cache that enhances the geocaching experience. It will typically require the cacher to meet a reasonable and positive Geocaching-, Waymarking- or Wherigo-related qualification.

For more detailed information regarding the nature of challenge caches, please refer to: (visit link)

The nature of this challenge is quite simple. In order to qualify to find this cache you must have completed the following 2 (two) requirements:
1. Meet the requirements of, found, and logged 10 (ten) other challenge caches.
2. The found challenge caches must have been placed by at least 2 different cachers.

To verify your qualification for this cache, simply include in your found log your completed challenge list when finding and logging this challenge cache. This list should include the cache code, name, cache placer's and date found. See below for an example based on a sampling of the challenges that I have completed to date:

1. GC2J6AY - MGSc Challenge - beltfamily - 23/12/10
2. GC2RH6C - It's Not a Traditional but a Challenge - Tufty - 30/04/11
3. GC2V7AM - New Zealand's Seven Plus A Day Challenge - YuGeo4 - 25/06/11
4. GC35CW7 - 4 x 4 Challenge - 8ManAfter - 14/02/12
5. GC32AZX - International Cacher Challenge - funkymunkyzone - 07/10/11
6. GC39ZMT - A Timely Challenge - Lostcourse - 23/02/12
7. GC2VB69 - Am I FTF??? - Kiwi_Explorer - 03/04/12
8. GC3N4A9 - The Toilet Challenge - funkymunkyzone - 24/06/12
9. GC37RNY - XaXe's Mystery Challenge - MarMis - 13/07/12
10. GC3K4GN - The Big "D" Challenge - funkymunkyzone - 13/07/12

Failure to include a qualification list may result in your log being deleted.

The D/T rating for this cache reflect the effort required to complete the challenge. As this cache is placed in Nelson and there are less than 10 active challenges in this region, this will require some amount of travel either for a local person or for someone outside of this region.

The cache itself is probably more of a D1.5 / T2.0 type cache. The cache is a camo painted 400ml Sistema container, with log book, pencil, eraser, sharpener and room for small swaps.

The good news is that you may have already qualified, as all challenge caches that you have completed can count towards this challenge, not just those completed after its publication.

So, ultimately this is supposed to be a bit of fun for those interested. if challenge caches turn you off completely then please ignore this cache.

Update 20/8/12:

As a point of clarification, the Groundspeak Challenge Cache guidelines include the following note:

Note: Challenge caches published prior to the guideline update 3/12/12 are grandfathered into the game and do not need to comply with current guidelines.

So, there are some challenges out there which were published as challenges before 3/12/12 but which would not meet current guidelines. However, as these have been "grandfathered" by Groundspeak, they are still considered valid challenges. Just as pre-existing 'webcam' & 'virtual' caches are still considered geocaches.

Happy caching!!!
