Lindos - with a distance of 55 km from the island capital, today’s most amazing Rhodes resort,Lindos has become a must. Displaying from an ancient Acropolis to the best restaurants in the island,the village of Lindos is charming with its cobblestone streets and white houses leaning towards the sea. The Acropolis is reached through a series of steps, which can be ascended on donkeys. Don‘t be surprised to discover that from the outside the Acropolis does not betray its Hellenistic origins because the original complex was surrounded by a strong fortification in the Middle Ages by the Knights of St John, but inside are , propylaean ruins, the sanctuary of Athena and the Byzantine church of St John. Besides its breath taking golden sandy beaches, its traditional houses and tavernas , the hospitality of the locals its wild night life the beautiful village of Lindos with a unique cultural importance has a wide range of monuments to display as well as a number of sites of highly important historical and cultural value.
Lindos - ca. 55 km von Rhodos-Stadt entfernt - gehört zum "Pflichtprogramm" aller Urlauber auf Rhodos. Das Dorf liegt malerisch an einem Felsen, auf dem die Akropolis von Lindos steht. Ab ca. 10:00 Uhr ist Lindos meist hoffnungslos überlaufen. Erst ab 16:00 Uhr wird es wieder etwas ruhiger. Diese Zeiten sollte man bei einem Besuch berücksichtigen. Auch wenn Lindos fast ausschließlich vom Tourismus lebt, hat es trotzdem noch seinen Charme behalten. Ganz Lindos steht unter Denkmalschutz. Von der Akropolis genießt man einen wunderschönen Blick über die Ostküste. Den Aufstieg empfehlen wir zu Fuß - wer es mag , kann auch auf einem Esel bis kurz unterhalb der Akropolis gebracht werden.

From the peer you walk upwords a small sideway beneath the cliffs. The Akropolis is on the right hand.
Vom Steg aus geht ihr einen kleinen Weg direkt an den Klippen herauf. Auf der rechten Seite seht ihr die Akropolis.
