[ENG] A cache near Malga Ciapéla
[ITA] Malga Ciapéla è uno dei villaggi che compongono Rocca,
frazione capoluogo del comune di Rocca Pietore (provincia di
Belluno). Sorge poco prima del Passo Fedaia, lungo l'ex Strada
statale 641 del Passo Fedaia. Al giorno d'oggi si presenta come un
centro turistico, composto principalmente da alberghi, negozi e un
grande impianto di funivie. Da qui infatti parte l'impianto di
risalita della Marmolada che collega Malga Ciapéla al picco più
alto delle Dolomiti. L’impianto di risalita è diviso in tre
funivie che da Malga Ciapéla portano sino alla cima di Punta Rocca.
La prima funivia parte da Malga Ciapéla (1450m) e porta a Coston
d'Antermoja (2350m). La seconda da Coston d'Antermoja raggiunge
Serauta (2950m), e infine la terza prosegue fino alla cima di Punta
Rocca (3265m), di fronte a Punta Penia, che con i suoi 3342 m è la
cima più alta delle Dolomiti. Alla fine del secondo troncone di
funivia, si trova anche un museo dedicato alla Prima Guerra
mMondiale, con le testimonianze dei combattimenti avvenuti su
quelle montagne. Proprio durante la Prima Guerra Mondiale
(1915-1918), la postazione di Malga Ciapéla assunse una grande
importanza logistica. Qui, infatti, veniva ammassato il materiale e
i rifornimenti per le truppe italiane che combattevano in tutto il
settore della Marmolada. Da qui partiva una teleferica che portava
viveri e munizioni alle postazioni di Punta Serauta e fu anche
allestito un ospedale da campo.
La cache è nascosta vicino alla vera e propria Malga Ciapéla,
che si trova poco dopo un campeggio. Potete arrivare nei pressi
della cache sia a piedi che in auto. Dovrete attraversare il
campeggio (nessun problema, si può attraversare liberamente) e,
arrivati nei pressi della malga, fate due passi (ma proprio due ;))
in mezzo al bosco. Buona caccia.
[ENG] Malga Ciapéla is one of the villages of Rocca Pietore
(province of Belluno). It is located just before the Fedaia Pass,
along the Strada Statale 641. Today, it looks like a tourist
center, consisting of hotels, shops and a lift system. This cable
car system links Malga Ciapéla with the highest split of the
Dolomites. The lift system is divided into three different steps:
The first cable car leaves from Ciapela Malga (1450 m) and leads to
the Antermoja (2350 m). The second starts from Antermoja reaching
Serauta (2950 m), and the third one goes to the top of Punta Rocca
(3265 m), in front of Punta Penia (3342 m), which is the highest
peak of the Dolomites. At the end of the second section of cable
car, there is also a museum dedicated to the World War 1. During
the WW1 (1915-1918), Malga Ciapéla was very important for the
Italian Army, mainly for logistics. From here, a little cableway
brought the war material to Serauta split, supplying the entire
area of the Marmolada. At malga Ciapéla position was built also a
field hospital.
The cache is hidden close to the actual Malga Ciapéla, which is
shortly after a camping site. You can reach the cache either on
foot or by car. You'll have to go through the campground (no
problem, you can freely pass) and arrived near the hut, make
two steps (but two;)) in the woods . Good luck.
