Geocache Description:

the cache IS PLACED AT THE HOSPITAL TERRITORY :) :) :) near the entrance. Please, note that hospital consists of many old, historical buildings. This is a reason I placed the cache right there. I think its worth to visit, indeed. Many of you walk outside of the wall, near the street, from three sides of the hospital area are the gates. Each of them is close to historical buildings, worth to see :)

The building were found in XVIII century. Most advanced works wich gave the final shape to the hospital were made from 1898 til 1901 and ended with semi gothic style. From medical point of view important thing was, that those days Warsaw had increadibly modern equipment, elevators etc.
While WW2 some of the buildings were destoryed. one of them, was not renovated but at its place in 1956 appeard Ortophedic Clinic which is open for patients til now. Until the end of the war in Lindley's Hospital [named Jesus the child's Hospital] were kind of secret medical university, where [illegaly] people were studing medicine. Also on the buildings you can see the long lists of names and surnames of people, who died there from 1939-1944 in fights, mostly while Wrsaw's Uprise in 1944. It was also a store for medical equipment, weapon and all kind of help needed for polish 'underground' fighting for independent Poland.
After the war, ca. July of 1945 hospital had had around 300 beds availbe for patients, a year later there was already 1000 beds.
Today hospital has its renesance. There is alot of process of renovation and also its one of most famous hospital complex buildings in the whole Europe. Moreover, it is a place which is a heart of transplantation in Poland. If you visit Warsaw you can just take a look at the old buildings, hiding its story and memories between old, huge trees and walls. Look around so you will see many many signs whispering tales about war. If u get hungry there is also place u may try typical polish home cuisine. Im a student so u can trust me;)
